Bus tour of four farms in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, beginning at Stillpoint Farm – Mt. Airy, MD
Future Harvest CASA Members $45; Nonmembers $55
This behind-the-scenes tour is designed for farmers interested in growing hops or fruits for alcohol production, and those who want to know what it takes to produce and market artisanal alcoholic beverages to a regional market. We’ll visit:
Stillpoint Farm, one of the first farms to take advantage of Maryland’s new Farm Brewery legislation, growing hops and building a brewery;
Distillery Lane Ciderworks, Maryland’s first cidery, which produces apples for sweet and hard ciders;
North Gate Vineyards, a Loudoun County, Virginia winery with a LEED Gold tasting room; and
Bloomery Plantation Distillery, the first West Virginia farm distillery, producing fruit for their distinct lines of “cellos”Each stop will include a farm/facility tour and small tasting. Optional boxed lunch from Frederick’s Lunchbox may be ordered for $15. All participants are requested to park at Stillpoint Farm and ride the bus for the entire tour.
